My Journey
Whenever people ask how I got into Acupuncture and Massage Therapy, I always tell them "it found me". I was a senior in High School, and had begun my "college shopping". I didn't know what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to come out of my further education with a marketable skill. I saw an advertisement for the New York College of Health Professions in a newspaper (that's how long I've been at this!) and decided I wanted to check out a school for Acupuncture and Massage. The minute I walked into the building, I knew, right then, that I was supposed to be there. It awoke a fire and a passion that I didn't know I had. I had finally become excited about the idea of going to school.
I began to study with the Institute for Classical Asian Studies, and ended up studying with them for almost 10 years. These studies gave me the opportunity to travel to the source of my medicine, in the Sichuan Province of China. Through the Institute for Classical Asian Studies, I had the opportunity to learn a wide range of medical knowledge. This helped create strong and stable roots in true medical knowledge, while also allowing my spiritual side to blossom. I learned the 36 Classical Needle Techniques of ancient China, Kyo Jung Therapy, and Medical Qi Gong healing.
Being a dually licensed therapist (meaning licensed in BOTH massage therapy and acupuncture), my massage and acupuncture backgrounds have woven together, and have a strong and profound effect on how I approach my treatments.
